summer storms

It’s summer storm season. Severe storms every day this week. The big excitement was Wednesday’s tornado warning in the office. We were discussing what to do (walk all the way down to the first floor?) when a PA announcement directed everyone to shelter in place under their desks. I actually did sit under my desk for a moment, then saw Kyle just sitting in his chair continuing to work and felt sheepish so I got up and did the same.

Back in the RD days I used to frequently imagine myself crawling under my desk to melt into a puddle and die. It always seemed like a real comfy place to melt into a puddle and die. Probably still would be. But it’s too cramped to be a nice spot for sitting and sketching so it’s just as well I got up. We eventually got the all clear, and it had simmered down to moderate rain by lunch time. Afterwards we all got an email directing us to subscribe to building text alerts lmfao. I still haven’t gotten around to that.
